Principal's Message

St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Primary School is an integral part of Bowral Parish. Our vision is to create an educating community in which children, staff, parents and pastor support each other in pursuing the highest quality of education for each individual child in the context that is given energy and direction by the liberating message of Jesus Christ and by the Catholic faith. Catholic values and traditions are fostered through formal Religious Education programs as well as through the positive relationships that exist between the various members of the school community.

We acknowledge parents as the first educators of their children. We are committed to working in partnership with parents, accordingly, we encourage parent involvement in a range of activities within the school. Close links between home and school contribute significantly to children’s success at and enjoyment of school.

As Catholic educators we are concerned with the academic, social, emotional, physical, spiritual and creative development of your child. We strive to cater for the needs of individual children and to maximise each child’s potential as a learner. At St Thomas Aquinas we believe that a positive, healthy sense of self worth is central to success as a learner and personal fulfilment in general. Accordingly we do our best to foster such attitudes in every child.

We endeavour to create a supportive learning environment, which encourages and develops life long learning among students and staff alike. We attempt to develop in children the skills and attitudes which foster co-operation with others. We believe that learning how to think is more important than learning what to think. Children are encouraged to think, make choices and to take responsibility for their learning and behaviour.

Our school was established by the Daughters of Our Lady of the Sacred Heart in 1903 and has a tradition of assisting Catholic families in providing their children with an authentic Catholic education. This remains our priority today, in an ever changing and challenging world. We approach our work with enthusiasm and professional dedication. Our success depends not only on our own efforts but also on the support of the families of our school.

Finally, I take this opportunity to welcome your association with St. Thomas Aquinas School. I hope that we might be to you, all that God would have us be.

May God bless you and your family,

Mary-Lynn Lane
